About the board
The Victorian Environmental Water Holder (VEWH) is an independent statutory body responsible for managing Victoria's environmental water entitlements, in cooperation with environmental watering program partners. Reporting to the Minister for Water, the VEWH makes decisions on the most effective use of the environmental water entitlements, including use, trade and carryover, to improve the environmental health of rivers, wetlands and floodplains.
The Risk and Audit Committee (RAC) is an advisory committee to the VEWH. The primary objective of the Risk and Audit Committee is to assist the VEWH in delivering on its responsibilities for annual financial reporting and in ensuring appropriate risk management and governance frameworks are in place for the VEWH and its Office.
About the role
The Victorian Environmental Water Holder invites suitably qualified and experienced people to register an expression of interest for a position as independent member of the Victorian Environmental Water Holder Risk and Audit Committee.
Who we're looking for
Two positions are available – member and Chair. Candidates may indicate which position they are applying for and may be considered for both.
Committee members must have knowledge and experience in the following disciplines:
- Sound financial literacy with experience in analysing and interpreting an organisation’s financial position and risk;
- Risk management governance frameworks;
- Internal audit, assurance programs and integrity issues;
- Leadership and strategic judgement with the ability to foster collaborative and effective decision-making (required for Chair position);
- Experience in the water sector and/or professional membership (such as Chartered Accountant or Certified Practising Accountant) would be highly regarded.
Members must also show a personal commitment to integrity, disclosure of interests and be able to maintain confidentiality on relevant Committee matters.
