‘Building an inclusive board culture’ is a new program for Victorian public sector board members, offered by the Victorian Public Sector Commission.
The program aims to:
- increase retention and meaningful participation of board members from diverse backgrounds
- improve the experience of serving board members from diverse backgrounds.
Delivered by Diversity Partners, the program is facilitated by its founder and CEO Dr Katie Spearritt, and Senior Consultant Tarang Chawla.
The program will cover:
- prioritising diversity and inclusion: why it’s important for boards
- understanding intersectionality and equity
- characteristics of inclusive workplace cultures
- exploring biases and subtle acts of exclusion
- signature strengths of inclusive leaders
- inclusive meetings and interactions
- inclusive leadership shadow
- inclusive recruitment.
Program format
The learning approach is conversational and interactive and includes case studies, peer connection and sharing, reflective practice and action planning.
The program involves:
- one online workshop – 2 hours and 30 minutes
- supplementary reading material and resources.
Sessions are held online via Zoom. Participants will be sent the program information upon registering.
